I’m a friend of Jen and I didn’t know Caro very well but I do have a few special memories of her. When my young son Wilfred was ill with leukaemia Caro wanted to make him a giant squid to cheer him up. He choose the colours and she found amazing fabric with vehicles and road signs that was perfect. Sadly he died unexpectedly and never got to see his squid but Caro finished it for us and he sits in the house and makes me smile every time I see him. She was incredibly kind and funny and I wish I had known her better. PS I blooming love my lady’s robe Caro. Best garment ever, love Snails x

Caro was always a very patient and kind person. She's my oldest friend and the one I have the earliest memories of. For what felt like years, we'd play Monopoly each Saturday (interspersed with yet another viewing of the Terminator). Caro knew that I'd sneak extra 100 and 500 notes - my money pile grew to 4x the size of her one - when she'd briefly leave the front room. I think she might have left to allow me the time to do it, and I never remember her banishing me for embezzlement. Either on the same days as Monopoly or different days, we'd watch the Terminator. Again. It was my favourite film at the time. Pretty sure it wasn't Caro's. And, the video was recorded from the BBC so was edited / dubbed for language ("you're terminated, f."). I'm not quite sure what this thought is trying to achieve. I suppose it's to say that I have so many fond memories of Caro from an early age - this is just the one that jumped out when I started to write. That she was very understanding of my bad Monopoly habits and obsessive Terminator viewing, and that she was a kind and warm person that will be deeply missed by so many people for different reasons.

Caro was one of a kind and Im so glad I got to live with her. Living with Caro was one, if not the funniest times of my life. She was so funny and I laughed like a drain at everything she did. I remember so many funny times. One day our flat was burgled. We came home to the door open and we went into the flat looking for what they had taken. When we went to her room we looked at the room, then looked at each other, then looked at the room. All of her clothes were everywhere. She said something like ‘this is how I left it, Ive no idea if they've been in here or not’ and I just couldn’t stop laughing. Things that remind me of Caro are cherry coke, The OC, platform shoes, pink leopard print and all the Rocky films. At one point we rented a white van to move flats and I had never driven a van before or driven in London before but she sat in the front with me and she said she was going to shout stuff at people walking past so she could be a proper ‘white van man’. Then when I hit a bollard and I cried trying to reverse park it she was completely supportive and hilariously funny. It actually turned out to be a really funny day. X

I had the privilege of having Caro as a human training head for, well,a bladdy long time. I want to say pushing 15 years but my record cards will tell me for sure, all 16 sides of the 8 of them!! (Which are waiting to be framed) I say training head, because virtually every appointment was a learning curve...for both of us. Our convos were legendary, if i do say so myself. Whether I was educating her on the science of hairdressing (and she was the perf student) or she was telling me of her latest creations. Jewellery, pottery, octopus, jackets the creative world was her oyster. Was. What a shitty word. We talked, films, fiends, foes and all things fantastic and i LOVED the follow up texts of facts, memes and debunks on our chosen subjects. I will miss her breezing in to make an appointment. I will miss her arriving occasionally hungover yet still fabulous I will miss her hugely but she will be forever remembered. My muse💚

Any of my Caro memories are going to be very badly told - mainly because my memory is awful and normally I would vaguely remember something funny and Caro would fill in all the details and her retelling would make me laugh even harder then when it actually happened. She did promise me and Sophie she would digitally download her memory for when we’re senile once, bet she bloody didn’t get round to it! 👵🏻📞👵🏻 A LOT of things will always remind me of Caro. She had that habit of making something pretty niche be hilarious for years. Any item of clothing with an unexpected pocket (LOVED a poche), melon (sorry for after however many years I always forgot she hated it and would regularly buy her some instead of pineapple on a Asda run) Marky Mark, port salut, leggings (so many leggings!), ponchos and of course Eurovision 🕺🏼🇪🇺 (should have been her mastermind subject). My little girls still cuddle up with the AMAZING patch work blanket she made them. And my husband would save the fancy lemon squeezer she bought us a house warming present in a fire. She had so much too her and she touched so many people. One thing I will NEVER forget is that cackle- I’ve got a 1000 memories of her laugh and I’m so glad that she was a part of my life. Love you Caro, always will xx

We went to watch Britney in Blackpool and she booked the hotel, obvs and it was such a kitsch indie hotel, with hens and stags not allowed, so she didn’t have to scowl at anyone. It had bouji chandeliers and a massive cow in the entrance, which we spent much time marvelling over. We had the best day, trying to find a semi decent bar to have a cockie in and a g&t on the pier before singing along to Mr Worldwide and BritBrit. It was such a good night and we had such a laugh. I’m so glad we made that happen.

I remember doing Caro's hair when she was going out, possibly to a gig with Laura with painted lips & faces, they looked amazing! She spent time in our house back then & was a true friend to Laura. Denny x

Searching for a bin bag in Caro's house yesterday I found a roll of greaseproof paper which she used in her baking.It reminded me of making and wrapping her packed lunches in primary school.She must have been 6 when on Owl TV her favourite wildlife programme at the time doing your bit for the environment suggested using less plastic.Wrap your lunch in paper they said.Off we went in search of the product and for the rest of her time at New Brighton Primary her lunches were wrapped in greaseproof paper.

When we were teenagers one of our best things to do, if we weren’t napping together or sitting at the computer in the loft refining the menu for our dream specialist toastie cafe (we got there about 20 years before the cereal killer cafe), was walking into New Brighton proper to get chips, we’d eat them sitting on a bench outside the bowling alley and then walk home. One time, because she was going to be on holiday the next week, Caro thrust £2 (or whatever it cost back then) into my hand and demanded I go and get chips without her so hell bent was she on the tradition not being broken. I did it, of course I did, you simply didn’t refuse a request from Caro.

How do you boil down a whole life you shared together to a thought? I found it really hard. But I thought I’d choose something that demonstrated what made her, her: an unbelievable resilience, the ability to hold a grudge for decades, and a wicked sense of humour. Caro hated her ostomy. It used to blow up to “the size of the moon” when it was new. It used fart in the middle of conversations, it was known to leak from time to time, it meant she had to change her whole wardrobe - although it had to be said, nobody else could have pulled off dungarees as effortlessly as she did. We decided the ostomy needed a name. Rewind about 15 years and Caro had a single interaction with a gentleman called Keith W***: to quote her “I won’t share his full name, he’s the kind of narcissistic bellend who would spend his free time googling himself, I won’t give him the satisfaction.” But safe to say he was rude, condescending and absolutely full of himself, and Caro instantly took against him (in the way only she could.) Keith, she declared was full of hot air and was a poor excuse for an arsehole. And so was her ostomy. And so it came to pass that it was named Keith. It makes me laugh to this day that someone SO focused on his own PR should have been cut down to size by my whip smart sister and a) been seen through so immediately and b) been memorialised as a bag of turds
